2018 SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY

December 1, 2018 – SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY

Edgefield Emergency Management (EM) Director, KM4GLW Suzy Spurgeon and Aiken Emergency Management Director, KB4GYT Paul Mathews formed a team to support SKYWARN RECOGNITION DAY at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Columbia, SC. The Edgefield EM trailer was setup next to the NWS building.  Trailer feature demos were given and a Special Event Station, WX4CAE was setup in the trailer on HF, VHF and UHF. Team members operated the trailer and main NWS ham station as WX4CAE Special Event.

Unfortunately, the VHF antenna pointed towaed the CSRA seemed to have a problem.  We were not able to contact the CSRA SKYWARN repeater, 145.49 mHz.

Certificate of Appreciation was issued to participants by United States Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service.
